BC Healthy Communities supports community groups and local governments to assess, enhance, and mobilize the capacities they need to continually create and improve community well-being on Vancouver Island.
There are many brilliant seeds of ideas being planted in communities to grow projects and find solutions to problems. But, those seeds will not grow unless they are planted in healthy fertile ground that has all the ingredients to nurture development. So, one could say, that BCHC supports you to “till the soil” of your community so that local initiatives can flourish and achieve the highest potential possible.
Their model of collaboration and taking a “whole of society” approach in their community outreach and planning is an excellent example of child rights in action.
BC Healthy communities has partnered with Youth Core who focuses on youth engagement and networking initiatives specific to the Capital Region, with learning informing the development of a provincial youth engagement strategy. They offer an amazing youth portal and interactive map of Vancouver Island for child and youth friendly activities and organizations.
